Monday Meanderings

Here's a truth that never ceases to amaze me:
“Since His resurrection, Jesus has kept His physical body, in a glorified form. Jesus did not have a body before He came to earth; He took on a physical body for one purpose only — so that He could die. He became a man to live the perfect life for us and then to die in our place. But even when all that was over, He kept a physical body for eternity in heaven, with the scars on His hands and feet and side now part of His glory. He has permanently identified with us. This is amazing love.”

- Susan Lutz, “Love One Another As I Have Loved You” Journal of Biblical Counseling (Spring 2003), 10.
As the Proverbs tell us:
The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him." (18:17) and again:
"Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered." (28:26)
and once more:
"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid." (12:1)
We know it is not only the respectful and loving thing to do to listen carefully to the other side of an argument, that it is also the wise thing - and yet we so hate to listen to anyone who may contradict us. Here's a very insightful article addressing this very subject: http://www.challies.com/archives/articles/confirmation-bias.php

What's so great about a front porch anyway? Here's a great little site devoted to that very discussion:

Here's an article addressing a particular rumor circulating about the health care reform bill. About 2/3 of the way down you will find a link to the text of the entire document as it stands right now. If this is a matter of interest to you you may want to bookmark it so you can go straight to the source to verify media reports and make informed decisions: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2009/07/government_telling_you_how_to.html?ft=1&f=103943429

Now to Him...

And while we're at it, how 'bout Down By the Riverside? Oh, and while you're there, if you want to have your breath taken away, pay special attention to the vocal range of the man in the center dressed all in black.
